The month of April is stress awareness month. It’s not a coincidence that this is also tax month is the U.S.
Stress is one of those “silent killers,” and is the cause behind many health problems. Stress triggers the “flight of fight” response and can result in adrenal fatigue, headaches, high blood pressure, increased heart rate (have you ever noticed how your pulse rate increases at the doctor’s office?), increased risk of heart attack, tense muscles, and more!
Stress awareness month gives us pause to stop and think about our stressful lives and take the opportunity to put into practice mindful ways to relieve stress. Whether you prefer yoga, meditation, a hike in the woods, a day at the beach, or a massage, make the commitment to include opportunities for releasing stress and embracing calmness.
